Go to any hip mixology bar and you’ll see lots of spiced-up cocktails on the menu. Pairing chiles with fruit is very trendy right now, and it’s a great way to make drinks that are both really hot and very cool. It’s also an ideal way to pack a lot of flavor punch into a drink without adding tons of extra calories. Don’t be afraid to bring the heat home with these saucy little numbers.

This gorgeous drink is a little bit peppery and a little bit sweet.
6 fresh (or thawed frozen) blueberries, plus a few extra for garnish
1-inch slice yellow bell pepper, coarsely chopped
11/4 ounces white (clear) tequila (100% agave)
1/2 ounce triple sec or other orange or citrus liqueur
2 ounces lemon Sour Mix
Lemon wheel, for garnish
Muddle the blueberries and bell pepper in the bottom of a cocktail shaker. Add the tequila, triple sec, and sour mix and shake with ice until well chilled. Double-strain (using both the cocktail strainer and a small sieve) into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with a lemon wheel and blueberries.
